The Saguenay Fjord formed over time, due to erosion by one or more glaciers.
Its waters are a mix of fresh water from rivers and salt water from the sea. This combination provides a suitable habitat for certain species of fish. More than 70 species can be found in the fjord and share this valley of water, which exceeds 240 metres in depth at certain locations.
