Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Is a face-mask mandatory for the excursion?
The face-mask is required on board, even on the sundeck, because when the deck is crowded, proper distanciation is not possible. Once you are inside the boat and seated and at 1m from other groups, you can take off your mask. However, when you get up to move about the boat, you must put your mask back on.

Reservation and tickets

Is it recommended to purchase tickets in advance?
Because of the sanitary measures regarding COVID-19, it is required that you purchase your tickets in advance, either online or by calling 1-800-363-7248 (toll free) or 418-543-7630. Please note that it is very frequent that our boats are full a couple of days ahead for certain itineraries on the fjord. It might be a good idea to plan ahead for your reservations!

How do I make a reservation?
Full payment is required to make reservations. You can buy your tickets via our web site, or by calling 418-543-7630 or 1-800-363-7248 (toll free). A credit card is required to complete the reservation.

What methods of payment are accepted at the ticket booth?
Since we only accept online or phone reservations because of our sanitary measures, we can only accept credit cards.

Where do I pick-up my tickets?
Your tickets will be available at the ticket booth next to the boarding pier, either in the cruise ship pavilion in La Baie or at our ticket booth directly on the pier in L'Anse-Saint-Jean. Tickets are never sent by mail. If you purchased your tickets with one of our partners (hotel or other accommodations), bring your purchase order to the ticket booth and we’ll provide your tickets in exchange. If you board in Sainte-Rose-du-Nord, Parc Aventures Cap Jaseux or Tadoussac, simply show your proof of purchase (paper or on your phone) directly to our staff when boarding the boat.

 On Board

Are picnics allowed onboard?
Yes, you can bring your picnic on board any of our three boats. Snacks and beverages (bottled water, juices, coffee, etc.) are also available for purchase on board. Alcoholic beverages are prohibited to bring on board since we sell alcoholic beverages on the boat(wine, beer). There are no meal services on board. It is also possible to buy a lunchbox for the 10h00 departure from La Baie on La Marjolaine when you book your ticket. Please note that lunchbox purchasing is only available until 48h before departure.

In addition, the villages in which you’ll be visiting offer restaurants on-site; the perfect opportunity to discover local dishes in an enchanting environment!

Is the excursion on La Marjolaine recommended for families with young children?
The boat is very safe to bring young children. However, because of COVID-19 sanitary precautions, children will not be able to move about as freely on board as before because they will be in proximity to other passengers and will have to respect distanciation measures. The excursion may be considered long for some children who may become restless. Also please remember that while there is interpretation by a guide during the excursion, the scenery in the fjord is very contemplative. It is a good idea to bring games and activities on board to entertain the children (books, coloring books, dolls, legos, puzzles, tablets, etc).  Usually we do have some toys are available in the kids area, but they will not be available in 2021 because of our sanitary measures. There is also a small television in the kid's area where Disney movies are played during the excursion.

What are the Navettes Maritimes du Fjord’s dates of operation?
We usually operate on the fjord from early June to early October. Please note that the precise dates when the season starts and ends vary from year to year.  For 2021, we will operate only in high season, from June 26th to September 6th (7 days a week).

Can I bring my pet on board?

Our vessels have covered decks to keep you protected from the elements and allow you to witness the rain’s mysterious effect on the fjord.

 Departure and dates of operation

Are departures offered daily?
Yes, we do operate 7 days a week. However, Les Navettes Maritimes du Fjord may decide to cancel certain departures due to bad weather (high winds and storms) for security reasons. Please note that this is extremely rare, departures are still offered even during heavy rain.

 Does the excursion offer interpretion?

How should I dress for a cruise?
The temperature can change rapidly while on the fjord; it’s important to plan for all conditions.  Sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses are suggested when the sun is shining. A sweater or windbreaker (waterproof) is recommended for cloudy, windy or rainy days.
